Ever since Tarte released their Shape Tape concealer, it’s been considered the holiest of grails for its full-coverage, low-creasing finish. Seriously – Shape Tape created a new category of awesomeness all its own, and has been the only thing in that category for a long time….until THIS. Throw the confetti, pop the champagne and welcome Too Faced Cosmetics’ new release, BTW Super Coverage Concealer. The beauty world has been buzzing about this concealer for months so when it was released on 6/26, I knew I had to snatch it up and tell you guys what I thought.
- Can be used to conceal, contour, highlight, and retouch
- Each tube of concealer comes with 15mL (0.5 fl oz) of product
- Available in 20 shades
- Retails for $29
- Available from the Too Faced website, Ulta (website and in-store), Sephora (website and in-store)
- Claims to be a hydrating formula that’s never cakey
Each concealer comes in a pretty pink and black box, very much the same as the Born This Way Foundation comes in. It’s cute and simple, with a touch of gold reflective foil for an added kick.
The actual product comes in an elegant frosted bottle with a black cap – again, just like the Born This Way foundation. It’s a nice weight that makes you feel like you’re getting a luxury product for your $29. That being said, the tube is quite a bit larger than your standard concealer, e.g. Shape Tape, so it takes up a little bit too much room for my liking – a small flaw in the grand scheme of things.
This is where things get fun. If Shape Tape had one flaw, it’s that the formula can be drying. BTW Super Coverage is supposed to be the opposite: hydrating but never cakey.
I used my BTW Super Coverage to conceal blemishes and acne scars, as well as to do the preliminary highlight on the high points of my face. How was it? Girl, it was dreamy and creamy, melting into the skin and blending out flawlessly. Seriously – the blend time with a damp beauty sponge was about half as long as with Shape Tape! And wow – the hydrating formula really brightened and perfected my skin tone and texture. The finish is somewhere between matte and radiant and leaves your skin with a healthy glow that isn’t too dewy or shiny. The doe-foot applicator made it easy to get into the corners of my eyes and to sweep the product across my skin without tugging on it too much.
I did not use BTW Super Coverage to retouch during the day, because I don’t believe in putting cream products over powder. I also didn’t use it to contour, as I prefer a powder contour (aaaand at $29 apiece, I couldn’t afford a highlight, concealer AND contour shade). The shades I purchase blend so seamlessly that I think they’d be great for a cream contour, though.
I set the concealer and the rest of the cream/liquid products on my face with translucent powder by Laura Mercier and I looked airbrushed. Just g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s. GORGEOUS. DAMN.
At the end of the day, BTW Super Coverage looked just as good on my face as it did that morning, and I am in love. No creasing, no transfer, no weird patches missing from where I touched my face – just flawless skin. I tend to get oily on the inner parts of my cheeks but I didn’t find that the concealer looked oily. Yep, pretty safe to say that my Shape Tape is going to be replaced by this product.
Hell to the yes. Even though this concealer is a little pricey, one tube is going to last forever and I am hooked on the glowing, beautiful skin it gives me. Too Faced has put out some amazing products but BTW Super Coverage Concealer may be their best yet. Give it a try, you won’t be sorry!
